Admission criteria
The academic year within the LASCALA master starts at the very beginning of September. In order to be able to join us in September, applicants should at least graduate at the end of the academic year (e.g. June, July or August). The proof of the Bachelor degree (diploma or certificate) will be required for enrolment at the university.
Applicants’ specialization/path choice are considered in the selection process by the Consortium.
Applicants’ mobility in the program is partially chosen and partially dictated by their specialization or “Path” of choice. As a reminder:
- Path 1: High-power laser technologies, and high-intensity laser-plasma interactions
- Path 2: Accelerator physics
- Path 3: Physics of gravitational wave detectors
You will choose ONE of three different Paths to pursue during the LASCALA program.
For the mobility destination of the 1st semester of the 1st year:
- Path 1, 2, & 3 will choose: either Université de Paris-Saclay (France) or the University of Salamanca (Spain) *This mobility choice is made at the time of program application.
For the mobility destination of the 2nd semester of the 1st year:
- Path 1 : Lund University (Sweden)
- Paths 2 and 3: Sapienza University of Rome (Italy) *This mobility is predetermined by your Path choice, and cannot be selected independently.
Path changes are rarely approved and are only considered under highly exceptional, professionally justified circumstances.
To be eligible for a change, requests must meet two strict conditions:
- Deadline: Submitted no later than the end of September during the first semester of your first year.
- Capacity: Approval is strictly dependent on current student enrollment numbers at each location.
